Eric Trump just announced another Bitcoin buy. This week, he added 300 BTC to his mining company, American Bitcoin, which he co-founded.
This makes the firm’s total holdings 8,300 BTC. At current prices, that stash is worth more than $500 million.
The Numbers Behind The Buy
American Bitcoin announced the update in its investor presentation for the second quarter of 2026 on August 3. The company has created this treasury from scratch in 15 months, a timeframe that few corporate Bitcoin holders have been able to achieve.
The growth has put American Bitcoin in the ranks of the larger publicly traded corporate holders. It is now in the top two, trailing only Galaxy Digital and Gemini Space Station, according to bitcointreasuries.net.
Eric Trump owns about 20% of the company with his brother, Donald Trump Jr., and American Bitcoin has a dual strategy, both mining in-house and buying directly on the market.
That dual approach is important because it distinguishes American Bitcoin from pure-play treasury firms. About a third of its Bitcoin comes from mining, while the rest comes through open-market buys.
A Rough Quarter For The Stock
The Bitcoin buy follows a tough earnings report. American Bitcoin reported $67 million in revenue for the second quarter, falling short of Wall Street’s $73.8 million estimate.
The stock has been underperforming since the company went public last September. Despite the Bitcoin treasury continuing to expand, shares have dropped significantly from their post-IPO levels.
Eric Trump has remained steadfast on the plan. On a recent podcast, he stated that it would take a “beyond catastrophic” situation for the company to consider selling any of its holdings.
That’s the approach that other corporate owners have taken. Despite the volatility of the past few months, BlackRock’s IBIT has experienced significant inflows and outflows, but the demand for institutional exposure to Bitcoin has continued to grow.
Why the Accumulation Continues
American Bitcoin’s approach is based on a market opportunity. The company says that Bitcoin’s $1.2 trillion ecosystem still needs a focused and trusted American leader, and it wants to be that person.
The firm’s Q2 slides also showed record production and continued cost discipline despite the revenue shortfall. Mining margins have been cited as a reason for management’s optimism, as the price of Bitcoin has rebounded from its early-year pullback.
That accumulation mentality dovetails with a larger trend among public companies. The trend of corporate Bitcoin holders holding the asset as a long-term balance-sheet reserve, rather than a short-term trading position, has also been observed in Bitcoin’s price remaining close to key support levels through 2026.
It is still unclear whether the strategy will benefit shareholders. For now, though, American Bitcoin’s treasury continues to rise, quarter after quarter, irrespective of the stock price.
The next level that traders will be interested in is 10,000 BTC. If the company continues to build up its reserves at the same rate, it could hit that mark in the next few quarters.
