Hardware wallet maker Ledger has began shipping out the Ledger Stax hardware wallet around fourteen months after the original release date.
Ledger initially announced plans for this wallet in December 2022 during the Ledger Op3n event. The product was set to launch on March 2023. Given Ledger’s popularity in the cryptocurrency market, it had already amassed user interest.
The wallet manufacturer failed to deliver the wallet as promised and blamed manufacturing issues. The delay saw some people lamenting on social media platforms, with some claiming that it might have been a rug pull.
Over a year since the promised launch, Ledger is shipping the wallet to customers who placed their pre-orders.
Ledger Stax Goes Live
Ledger originally tabled the ideal of the Stax hardware wallet on December 6, 2022. At the time, the company said it was working with Tony Fadell, the brains behind the iPod, to release a revolutionary hardware wallet called Ledger Stax.
This wallet seeks to be superior to existing wallets through its features.
According to Ledger, Stax will address the main issues with crypto wallets. The wallet will provide a high level of security, be easy to use, and make it easy for users to verify transactions before they can authorize them.
The wallet provider said Ledger Stax would be the first secure touchscreen in history. It also comes with a 3.9-inch touchscreen, making it easier for users to read through transactions before signing on them.
“All of Ledger’s devices feature a secure screen – meaning a screen that’s powered by the Secure Element chip, keeping it safe from hacks,” Ledger said.
An Easy-to-Use Wallet
One of the main hindrances to broad cryptocurrency adoption is the need for an easy-to-use cryptocurrency wallet that simplifies crypto spending. Ledger and Fadell sought to address this issue through Stax.
Fadell, who is the godfather of the iPod, focused on the visual appearance and user interface of the Stax wallet. According to Ledger, Fadell’s involvement in the project made releasing a visually appealing product possible.
Ledger’s role in the wallet’s creation was to ensure its high-level security. Besides a wallet being easy to use, it must also be secure to hold user assets with zero threat of compromise.
Those using the Stax wallet will also have a chance to personalize it. They can give the wallet a name. They also select a non-fungible token (NFT) or image displayed on the lock screen.
If the wallet is misplaced, the personalized details will make it easy to recognize it as yours.
Those owning multiple Stax hardware wallets will also easily carry them around. The device will come with magnets, allowing them to be stacked together.
Currently, the manufactured devices are going to the customers who pre-ordered them. Ledger is planning to open up new orders during the summer.
