El Salvador continues its plans to boost Bitcoin adoption through the Node Nation education program that brings BTC into the public school curriculum.
The Node Nation initiative started the pilot program earlier this year to incorporate Bitcoin education in public schools.
This program seeks to educate students in Salvadoran public schools on coding, configuration, and managing liquidity on a Bitcoin Lightning Network Node.
The program adds to the efforts of the Salvadoran government to bring more awareness around Bitcoin after accepting the largest crypto by market capitalization as legal tender in 2021.
El Salvador Introduces Bitcoin Nodes To Schools
The National Bitcoin Office backs the Node Nation program. The other supporters of the program include graduates from a software development training program called CUBO+.
CUBO+ deals in the foundations of Bitcoin and the underlying Lightning Network.
The Salvadoran Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MINEDUCYT) have also supported the program.
The collective effort goes towards making Bitcoin and blockchain technology part of the education system.
During the launch of this program, the Minister of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. Jose Mauricio Pineda noted that the government was committed to bringing cutting-edge technologies into education.
The National Bitcoin Office announced that the program would launch in a few select schools before extending to others in 12 months.
This demonstrated a plan to make the project gain widespread adoption and impact.
The office said,
Students will learn coding as well as setting up, operating & managing liquidity on a Lightning node. The program will roll out to other schools over the next 12 months.
Node Nation is focused on the Bitcoin Lightning Network, which enables fast and seamless payments on the Bitcoin blockchain.
This program demonstrates that El Salvador seeks to use emerging technology to drive its financial dominance in the Salvadoran region.
El Salvador Continues to Bet on Bitcoin
The Salvadoran government continues to use BTC as part of its journey towards promoting innovation.
The country has been buying 1 BTC daily since early this year, with a cold wallet belonging to the government holding over 5,800 coins worth over $324 million.
Besides being directly involved in buying BTC, the country is also focused on the mining process for the largest cryptocurrency.
Another report noted that students were also being taught about application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and how they help in the Bitcoin mining process.
The Mi Primer Bitcoin (My First Bitcoin) non-governmental firm set up in 2021 supports the education program around ASICs.
This organization seeks to make free education available to Salvadorans and teach them how to integrate mining ASICs within an educational setting.
